Matthias Lange has designed and exhibited his prototypes of homewares that are designed to improve as they deteriorate.
There are the CYMK plates that have a white exterior but are coloured inside so that when the plates are chipped the colour is on display:
And what I really really love is the smash version of the alarm clock. You whack it on the top to turn it off and the clock is designed to dent over time. How insanely satisfying for the destructive side in all of us!
I’m also thinking there is a market for a couch with pillows for armrests and coffee tables that are designed for the purposes of displaying pretty books and acting as dinnertable when we watch tv!
What else is there a desperate need for?
