Jas my Waffles

I saw a write up in the local paper about a new cafe that had opened up that specialised in waffles, sounded delish!I loved the story behind how the husband and wife team started their business.

Today I took Mum to check out Jas my Waffles in Rooty Hill. I’ll have to be honest and say I don’t think I have actually had freshly made waffles that weren’t from a packet or frozen.

We drooled over the mouth watering menu, having trouble deciding what to try. They have a great range of sweet and savoury waffles.

I went for fruits of the forest single serve, $6.95. 1/2 a waffle, mixed fruit, caramel sauce and one scoop of New Zealand Natural ice cream. Mum was game and went for the full serve, double the waffley goodness for $11.95. I also had to try a caramel churros, $2.50

NOM NOM NOM! It was awesome, the waffles was warm, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. Paired with a scoop of vanilla and the berries *sigh* yum!

ham and cheese waffle on a stick/120:365While I was waiting for mum to try and find room for her ginormous helping. I was watching them make their waffles-to-go. Small waffles on a stick, a bit like a pluto pup..sweet or savoury.

I got myself a ham and cheese, $2.50. Just to see what it was like. It was a roll of thick ham stuffed with mozzerella cheese, cooked inside yummy waffle..on a stick.

*faint* Heaven on a stick, honestly..it was so good.

Service was great, as was the coffee.

I am looking forward to taking manpet and the kids there to try it out, tomorrow too soon?

The Cupcake Courier on special for Mother’s Day

If I didn’t already own enough cupcake carrying devices, I would have already bought one of the Cupcake Courier in every colour.

Not very many cupcake carriers have tiered storage and this is the main reason I’ve been wanting these babies. It’s a shame I’ve already spent my Kevin Rudd stimulus money!

cupcakecourier

Normally the Cupcake Courier costs $59.95, but there’s a mother’s day special on their web site at the moment of $49.95.

Holds 36 cupcakes and there’s plenty of room for all that icing we love to pile on top. Nom nom nom!

Female friendly toilets

This toilet design concept brings new meaning to “cop a squat”

toliet

This funky toilet by designer Nelson Ayala could be just what Women have been waiting for. I am sure we have all been there, public toilets can be so nasty. Trying to balance yourself without touching the seat..or peeing on yourself.  The ergonomic design of this toilet means user mounts the toilet with knees facing forward avoiding contact with your butt and the toilet. It even has a built-in automatic self-cleaning  system.

Breast Wishes!

breastwishes

Breast Wishes is “a new Australian musical about love, loss, life and silicon; a witty and heart-warming journey of courage and determination through laughter to triumph.”

There are a bunch of people behind this project, including Anne Looby (wasn’t she on A Country Practice?), Richard Glover, Wendy Harmer and Michael Tyack. It goes without saying that the whole shebang is in support of the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see it before it finishes up at the Seymour Centre in Sydney, but if you’re near Parramatta,Wollongong, Canberra Newcastle or the Gold Coast, you should go check it out! Sounds really fun.
